Club History

History of the Poway Kiwanis Club

The Poway Kiwanis Club was founded in 1973. We were chartered by the Los Rancheros club. We belong to Division 37 of the Cal-Nev-Ha District. Our division has 19 North County clubs with about 700 members.

Over the years, the Poway club has helped our community through wide variety of community projects and fund-raising activities. We are perhaps best known for the annual "Tour de Poway" fun bike ride, held each October, for the Padres Spring Training Kickoff Luncheon, which raises money for our charities, and for the "Kiwanis Kars for Kids" car show.

Other club traditions that have grown over the years include "Kiwanis Cup," a trophy given each fall to the winner of the Mt. Carmel-Poway High football game.and our participation in the Children's Hospital Radiothon and Miracle Mile of Quarters.
